Another California Vineyard Invests in a Solar Installation

It seems that more and more California vineyards are choosing to power their facilities with the same rays of the sun that nourish their grapes - just this week, Constellation Wines announced plans to boost its solar power more than any other winery in the country.
The exclusive Selyem Vineyard also got in on the act with its new, green high-technology visitor's center and winery.
Now Castle Rock Vineyards is getting in on the action, as it announced Thursday the completion of a 1.13-megawatt solar installation in the heart of California's Central Valley. The array is expected to provide almost 70 percent of Castle Rock's annual energy consumption.
The panels were put in place by California solar installer REC Solar and were manufactured by Kyocera Solar, a division of Japan's Kyocera Corporation.
"Kyocera is committed to environmental preservation and providing innovative, cost-effective solar energy solutions for every one of our customers," said Steve Hill, president of Kyocera Solar, Inc. "Our new solar production facility in San Diego, California, combined with our Tijuana, Mexico facility, will allow us to better serve the U.S. market and continue our mission to make solar power a viable, mainstream energy solution."
