A new corporate parking structure solar installation began operation recently in Orange County, according to a press release from Kyocera Solar, Inc.
The Japanese firm supplied nearly 5,500 high-efficiency polycrystalline solar panels to an unnamed financial institution's corporate data center and central plant. The panels, which were put in by Vista, California solar installer Independent Energy Solutions, are projected to save the client $14 million in energy expenditures over the next 25-year period.
Twenty-five years is the typical length of a solar array's warranty and many consider it to be the useful operational life of a modern solar panel.
"We have many years of experience installing various generations of Kyocera modules and they have never let us down," said IES chief operating officer George Gisel. "Year after year, Kyocera has consistently been a valued and supportive partner of IES."
Kyocera has sold its panels to a number of relatively high-profile California solar installations recently, including the array powering Kikkoman's local soy sauce factory.
