Nipton, California will nab the title of "The Most Solar Town in America" with 85 percent of the power of its power coming from an 80 kilowatt Skyline Solar array.
The tiny town sits on the border of the Mojave Desert and has a fluctuating population that reaches around 250 during peak tourist season.
Solar power seems to be the perfect solution for this town, which is setting an example for the rest of the country.
"As the gateway community to the Mojave Desert, Nipton seeks to be a good steward of the environment. Sustainability is paramount to this endeavor," said Nipton Principal Administrator Gerald Freeman.
"This is a significant milestone in the development of our company as we strive to bring scalable, capital-efficient solar energy to utility, government and commercial customers," said Bob MacDonald, the CEO and co-founder of Skyline Solar, which manufactures the High Gain Solar panel arrays. Nipton's power plant is the first commercial use of the HGS arrays.
Skyline touts the cost-efficiency and scalability of its HGS solar panel installations as their key advantages, allowing them to deliver cost-effective solar power to homes and businesses.
