A Colorado solar developer will partner with Woodstock, Ontario-based Aqua Solar Limited in a new, 20-year affiliate marketing agreement. RCI Solar is based in Lakewood, Colorado and is wholly owned by Global Earth Energy, which has its headquarters in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Under the terms of the agreement, RCI will benefit from Ontario's government-funded feed-in tariffs, with Aqua Solar purchasing at least $1 million of solar products over the next year.
"RCI Solar, through its affiliation with Aqua Solar, is now strategically positioned to capitalize on this major push to bring green energy to our local communities. RCI estimates that sales will exceed over $5 million in its first year of operations with revenue increases of 10 percent to 15 percent in the second year and the subsequent years," said Global Earth Energy chief executive officer Syd Harland.
The long-term FIT contracts administered by the Ontario government offer 20 years of guaranteed income for clean energy providers.
As new incentives and tariffs emerge to promote solar power, it is likely that these kinds of cross-border deals will become more common, with solar manufacturers, developers and installers joining forces to take advantage of the most competitive offers in domestic and international markets.
