The New Jersey solar industry is seeing increased growth because of incentives by the state and federal government, which is generating new employment opportunities and economic growth for Garden State residents.
The state's solar support is growing, though Pennsylvania's Burlington County Times writes that the precise job growth stemming from new solar installations can't be accurately quantified.
"It's not just the installers or the engineers, but it's also the stores where they buy their lunch and the other places they spend their money," John Drexinger, a representative of New Jersey solar installers Pro-Tech told the news source. "New Jersey is broke. But by investing money in these jobs, we're keeping the new jobs in New Jersey, and that's a good thing."
One company, Petra Solar, has grown from 15 employees in 2009 to nearly 180 employees at the end of 2010, the news source reported. More employment growth is expected this year, as the organization plans to grow outside of New Jersey.
