Sunlight Solar Energy, a solar design and installation firm with offices in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Oregon, is establishing a presence in the Philadelphia area.
The company announced this week that it was opening a Philadelphia office to serve both the Pennsylvania and New Jersey markets. In both states, demand for solar energy is on the rise: Philadelphia's mayor, Michael Nutter, hopes to make his city America's greenest by 2015, while New Jersey is No. 2 in installed solar capacity in the country.
Only California, a much larger state, is installing more solar power than New Jersey.
Sunlight Solar said its new office will be able to "provide local sales and support services to its fast-growing base of prospects and clients in the [Pennsylvania and New Jersey] region."
The company's announcement is good news for Pennsylvania homeowners considering a solar installation. Recently, solar leasing company SunRun said it was setting up shop in the state - giving homeowners an opportunity to lease solar equipment and, in many cases, lower their electricity bills. Now, Pennsylvania residents looking into solar power will have yet another option.
