The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) today announced $10 million in new funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). The authority will award the funds to enable seven solar energy firms to install solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on homes and businesses across the state. Taken together, the anticipated projects represent about six megawatts of clean energy generation capacity. Over 600 homes and a number of businesses will install new PV systems over the next two years.
Speaking about the announcement, New York Governor David Patterson said, ““The award of this federal grant is testament to New York’s continued commitment from all sectors to expand solar energy production, reduce our carbon footprint, and build our clean energy economy.” He added, “I applaud President Obama and the entire Congressional delegation for working to make this critical funding available.”
The companies selected to do the solar installations are: Alteris Renewables, Hudson Valley Clean Energy, groSolar, Solar Energy Systems, and Tioga Energy.

I’m really glad to see that groSolar got selected along, with the others, for this grand project in NY. GroSolar did a wonderful job putting the solar panels on my roof here in MA to help me save money and use cleaner energy. They did a magnificent job. I encourage as many places as possible to use their services and aim to switch to using as much clean energy as possible over these next few years. I”m glad to see our gov’t is helping fund projects like this. Helping increase the use of clean energy is one of several great things that Obama has done from the white house.
