The Boston Red Sox added a new power hitter to the middle of their lineup today, bringing on board an “Official Energy Conservation Partner.” As part of the agreement, Solar Blue, a Florida-based company, will help boost the energy efficiency of the franchise’s operations.
Fenway Park, the Red Sox home stadium, will don Solar Blue logos, while Solar Blue will help the Red Sox find ways to put energy conservation measures into practice at the nearly century-old facility. The financial terms of the partnership were not disclosed, but the Sports Business Journal views the multi-year deal as an extension of an initial partnership that started in 2009. Solar Blue Chief Executive Lee Maher said the goal of deal is to “make Fenway Park a leader in energy conservation,” and to “expand our [Solar Blue's] brand footprint throughout the national marketplace.”
Solar Blue company also announced it has signed a deal with the sports marketing company Fenway Sports Group (FSG). The contract ensures that FSG, the Red Sox sister company, will continue to be Solar Blue’s sports marketing agency of record. As such, FSG will help Solar Blue build a sports industry business-to-business program and secure sponsorship contracts.
Mark Lev, FSG’s Managing Director, told News Blaze that FSG will work with the Red Sox to help build sponsorships for Solar Blue.
