News: The Economist.

Germany remains one of the world’s largest solar adopters, thanks to enormous incentives provided by the government. The price of the program, however, coupled with concerns over nuclear power viability, are pushing Germany towards a reevaluation of its energy strategy. The country’s investment in renewables may shift increasingly towards wind.

With Germany’s inroads in solar adoption, and its disadvantageous position for harnessing solar energy given sunlight shortages, this news is regrettable – but neither unanticipated nor devastating.

The key question for the solar industry, pending an official transition, will be where to next make in-roads; there seems to be no shortage of alternative markets. All eyes will be on the transition.
