Self-Help Enterprises, a California-based organization, is working to install solar panels on 22 new homes in the state’s central valley.

The project will bring together the City of Tulare, California, and Grid Alternatives, a non-profit organization that provides affordable solar energy solutions for low-income households. To be located in an area of Tulare called Gail Estates, the solar homes will be made possible through funding from the Tulare Redevelopment Agency, according to the Visalia Times-Delta:

“[We] want to ensure that there are ample opportunities for community members to obtain affordable home ownership with responsible financing,” Tulare Redevelopment Agency Director Bob Nance said.

According to its website, Self-Help Enterprises is an organization that is “dedicated to self-help housing, sewer and water development, housing rehabilitation, multifamily housing and homebuyer programs in the San Joaquin Valley of California.”
