I see both sides of the argument, but what gets me is: where is the money going that the states are now saving? Is it being invested into renewables in a different way, or is it just a grateful budget reduction? It’s well and good for the states to say that this funding shift keeps home and business owners’ expenses for PV about the same, but I’m concerned about what it says about the states’ own financial commitment to the advancement of solar. I wish they hadn’t been quite so quick to keep the up front cost the same, either–what, after all, is wrong with solar being even cheaper? Maybe this is a sophomoric view considering the great expense to the state in maintaining high rebate levels, so I’ll have to look into this more and see if I need to adjust me indignation level.
