California Grants and Loans for Solar Energy

 
Santa Monica’s Green Building Grant Program

Eligible:    
Solar applications for residential, commercial and industrial sectors (plus a long list of other energy-efficient building measures)

Amount:          
$20,000 to $35,000 for LEED certification, and up to 50% of costs for Innovation Technology Grants (limited to $5,000)

Other info:
To be eligible, the building must meet certain LEED requirements— the higher the LEED certification, the higher the incentive amount. Grants are limited to projects within Santa Monica.

Sacramento Municipal Utilities: Residential Solar Loan Program

Eligible:    
Solar water heat and PV for residential applications

Amount:          
100% loan financing: 7.5% interest rate over a 10-year period

Other info:
To be eligible, system must meet standards of the Solar Rating and Certification Cooperation (SRCC) and must fulfill several other SMUD requirements
