Who We Are

• HeliosSouth, LLC is a young company, incorporating in 2009 in Atlanta, Georgia.
• The company was formed to help make fundamental changes in the way we use our natural resources, to deal with energy problems on the level of the individual homeowner, to provide alternatives to continued use of fossil fuels.

HeliosSouth principals have an unprecedented set of experiences and skills. 

Alex Elman has over 20 years of experience in the heating and air conditioning field. He brings invaluable technical and practical expertise to the solution of heating and cooling problems. He is licensed for installation and repair of HVAC systems in the state of Georgia and is responsible for the technical aspects of system installation. In addition, Elman has received a master’s degree in business administration from Emory University and has done postgraduate work at Harvard University.  Currently, Elman teaches in the Air Conditioning Technology department of Gwinnett Technical College near Atlanta. 

Neal Smith is an Emeritus Professor of Anthropology at Emory University where he taught and conducted research for 30 years. Smith holds a master’s degree in anthropology from University of Georgia and a doctorate in anthropology from Ohio State University. Smith is responsible for administrative and marketing aspects of the enterprise.
