Icarus Green Energy Solutions is a Certified Home Energy Ratings company specializing in green energy technologies used to provide comfort, health and safety, and cost savings in residential homes.
Our Services
Consultant shall perform the following services (the Services) depending upon site specific
needs. The homeowner shall be informed of actual services on the day of the survey:
1. A home performance diagnosis (survey) of the Owner’s property including the site, landscaping, neighboring geographical features, and the building itself.
2. The Survey consists of the following tests though your particular survey may vary:
- customer interview/written questionnaire
- site inspection (exterior shell, doors, windows, roof fitness, water management, landscaping)
crawl space inspection
- visual inspection of combustion appliances for corrosion, signs of flame rollout or excessive moisture, a sign of poor venting or incomplete combustion
- air infiltration test (if deemed helpful, a whole building leakage test using the Blower Door and infrared imaging camera shall be performed)
- visual inspection of all exhaust fans and ventilation devices
- insulation performance inspection (attic as accessible and wall using IR camera and inspection holes if possible)
- visual inspection of heating equipment (visual inspection of heat exchanger, venting, filtration, plenums and ductwork)
- visual inspection of cooling equipment (visual inspection of condenser and coil, venting, filtration, plenums and ductwork)
- Optional--Electrical load inventory including all significant loads: typically, these would be large appliances, pool motors, heating systems, electric stoves, garage door openers, hot tubs, aggregate lighting system, etc.
- visual inspection of water heater (insulation, leakage, earthquake strapping, insulation, corrosion, P&T)
- 12 month utility bill analysis (to determine baseload, heating load, cooling load, water heating load)
- total building water leakage inspection at water meter
- total water leakage check at meter
3. In the course of building leakage testing, dust and debris may enter the home from the attic, walls, crawl spaces etc. Therefore any furnishings, equipment, food and other sensitive products must be removed or covered with tarps. Please notify the Consultant of areas that must be dust-proof.
4. The homeowner will receive a Certified HERS Rating Report. The client is under no obligation to
implement any of the recommendations provided by the consultant.
5. The survey takes approximately 3 hours. At least one entrance to the home (typically the front door)
will be closed off for approximately 30 minutes.
