Specializing in professional design, sales, and installation of solar electric photovoltaic systems (PV) and solar hot water systems, Rising Sun has pioneered solar net-metered systems in Hawaii.

Since 1986, Rising Sun Electric has operated as licensed electrical contractor (C-28184, formerly C-13046 and C-26823) in the State of Hawaii. In 2003, RSE expanded their business to include solar electric and formed Rising Sun Solar Electric. RSSE has since installed more PV systems than any contractor on Maui. Rising Sun has installed systems island-wide. We have installed for Hawaii Electric Light Company (HELCO) and Maui Electric Company (MECO) for their Sun Power for Schools program, and in 2004, we were chosen by HELCO and Hawaii to install a 495-module system at the Natural Energy Lab in Kona. Rising Sun has provided training and education to Maui Community College for work force development programs and sustainability curriculum.
